Returning to it's usual slot on the late May Bank Holiday would be the G&WSR's 'Cotswold Festival of Steam', held over the weekend of 25th-27th May. This year's edition would be titled 'Western Workhorses' with a large emphasis on anything 'Great Western', although many gave the event the nickname 'Western Replicas' due to all the visitors having been heavily rebuilt into replica locomotive designs. Headlining the event would be new-build No. 6880 "Betton Grange" making it's first public appearance since it's long-awaited completion over a month ago. Fortunately, the 'Grange' arrived just in time to star at the event with first test runs only taking place on the previous Sunday, talk about tight schedules! Joining the 'Grange' would be No. 2999 "Lady of Legend" & 4300-inspired No. 9351 visiting from the Didcot Railway Centre & the West Somerset Railway respectively. The event did not only bring the sole three GWR new-builds together for the first time, but it also saw a line-up of four different types of GWR 4-6-0s as No. 7820 "Dinmore Manor" & No. 7903 "Foremarke Hall" would be joining the roster from the home-fleet. "Dinmore Manor" would also be making it's final gala appearance before it will be withdrawn at the start of the next year. Bringing up the rear of the roster would be 2800 No. 2807 & No. 35006 "Peninsular & Oriental S.N. Co." with the latter being an honory copper capped locomotive for the weekend!
