In search of Round Houses, smuggling and the longest grave? Walking from Veryan to Portloe Cornwall.

Описание к видео In search of Round Houses, smuggling and the longest grave? Walking from Veryan to Portloe Cornwall.

In our video we start our walk in Veryan on the Roseland Peninsula. This walk is very special to us because it was the first walk we filmed and uploaded to YouTube in September 2016. We have been keen to re-film this walk in our style today, to compare with our first ever video - hopefully today's video is better!

In Veryan, we discover a pond that is reputed to go back to the doomsday era! After arriving in Portloe, we explore the cove in search of some lime kilns with a tragic history and learn a little about its links to smuggling in bygone eras.

We pick up the South West Coast Path and head towards a large, elegant property called Broom Parc, used in an adaptation of the Camomile Lawn in the 1990s. At this point we head back inland to Veryan in search of the famous round houses that used to define the beginning of the village. Just why are they round?

We also find the longest grave in England in honour of men that lost their lives on a shipwreck in 1914. Packed with views, history and the usual puns, join us on our wander from Veryan to Portloe.

The standard description bit…
We are Sarah and Andrew and we film our walks around Cornwall and publish on YouTube, usually weekly. Sometimes we stay in accommodation in Cornwall and upload our vlog. Sarah is fascinated by sea glass and likes to collect it so there may be the occasional sea glass video too. The channel is a hobby and we both have normal day jobs!

Frequently asked questions:
What camera do we use?
Since December 2018 we have used: Canon Powershot G7x MkII

How do I find the books you use?

Best time of year to visit Cornwall?
We love May, June for flora and fauna, July and September for spectacular scenery.

What is your dog’s name?
Sorry but we do not release the name of our dog, perhaps you can make up your own name for him.
