Sholto and I both have long and thick hair. It constantly falls out of hairbands. Then not only does the hair blow all in our faces, but also we've unintentionally littered plastic out and about.

Braids are a pretty good solution, so are hair pins. Sholto carves them from wood, sands them smooth and buffs them with wax. They can hold a lot more hair than most bands and stay tight surprisingly well through the day.
