This lecture discusses the electrophysical modality of low level laser therapy: what it is, how it should be applied, its proposed mechanism of action and the contraindications to it. Scientific research investigating its therapeutic effectiveness for a range of musculoskeletal injuries is also discussed. Note: the topic of ‘medical lasers’ is not discussed.
