Fernando Puchol is one of the most brilliant pianists and maestros of his generation. At the age of 7, he performed for the first time on public stage with the works of Beethoven, Schubert and Chopin. He studied piano at Valencia Conservatory in Spain, where he was born, with Daniel de Nueda and graduated with the 'Extraordinary Prize of Piano'. He had further studies in the piano music in Paris with Luis Galve and in Vienna with Hans Graf.
Being awarded in various national and international competitions, he won the first grand prize in Maria Canals, Barcelona. For 30 years, his splendid career takes him to perform in the most important concert halls and with the most prestigious orchestras in Europe and America.
He has recorded fro RTVE the first and third Concerto of Beethoven with the Orchestra of Valencia, Concerto of Rimski-Korsakov, the first Concerto of Liszt , the world's first performance of the Concerto of Llacer Pla with the National Orchestra of Spain, Concerto for two pianos of Mozart with Ana Bogani, Adrian Sunshine and the London Master Players; Evangelista's Piano Concertante with David Parry and the Symphony Orchestra of Tenerife.
The CDs of the word's first performance of Llacer Pla's Two Pianos with Ana Bogani and the Orchestra of Valencia, and The Complete Works for piano of Carlos Palacio obtained prizes and distinctions magnificently acclaimed by the critic.
Fernando Puchol has interpreted monographic concertos dedicated to Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Schumann, Brahms; to the Spanish music for the keyboard of the 18th century, to the French impressionism and the music of the 20th century.
He presents his interpretation on Hindemith' 'Ludus Tonalis' for the first performance in Spain and on the works of Bartok, Vuataz, Krenek, Casella, Bernstein, etc.. Fernando Puchol's contribution is distinguished by performing the contemporary composers' piano works for the first time and by exposing them in public: Palau, Llacer Pla, Garcia Abril, Barce, Darias, Baguena Soler, Blanquer, Marco, Barber, Montsalvatge, Palacio, Bernaola, del Campo, Verdu, Polo Vallejo and Evangelista.
Fernando Puchol devotes his special attention to the chamber music; he founded and leaded the Chamber Group of the RNE in Valencia, formed duo with the violinist Pedro Leon (Beethoven's complete Sonatas) and with the pianist Ana Bogani(Complete works of Mozart, Brahms, Pedrell...) and has collaborated with Enesco Quartet of Paris.
He has written hundreds of articles for newspapers and special magazines. He is also collaborator with Wiener Urtext and Universal Edition. He is affiliated with Sociedad Didactico Musical(Society of Music Pedagogy).
At the age of 26, he became Piano Professor at 'Real Conservatorio Superior de Musica' in Madrid. He was also Artistic Director of International Course of Valencia University in Gandia and of the la Real Maestranza de Ronda in Malaga.
He is now Artistic Director of International Music Forum in Torrelodones and Orihuela. He is invited to give masterclasses in universities and conservatories in Spain, Paris, Panama, San Francisco, Emporia, Rotterdam, Tallin, Oporto, Turin, Trevi, etc. Many of his students have been awarded in international competitions and they are professors in many prestigious schools.
He is jury for very prestigious international competitions: Iturbi (Valencia), Santander, Maria Canals (Barcelona), Casagrande (Terni), Triestre, Atenas, Jaen, Compositores de España (Las Rozas), Guerrero(Madrid), Agropoli, Ennio Porrino (Cagliari), Ferrol, Pilar Bayona (Zaragoza), Cava d'Tirreni, Oporto, Panama, Ciudad de Toledo, etc.
Fernando Puchol is honorary member of the European Pianist Teacher Assocation. He was awarded the Gold Medal of RCSMM and National Prize of Record by Ministry of Culture of Spain.
