In a major move to curb spam and fraud calls, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has announced that telecom operators will soon be mandated to display the KYC-registered name of the caller on every incoming mobile call in India. The feature, known as Caller Name Presentation (CNAP), will function similarly to the existing system that labels certain calls as “Suspected” or “Suspicious,” but will now provide verified identity information directly from telecom databases.
