Head loss equation (FE Exam Review) / In this video, I review the head loss equations. I go over Darcy equation and Hazen Williams equation. For Darcy equation, usually we need to find Darcy friction factor. So I talk about how to calculate the friction factor and which equations to use. Unfortunately, the equations for the friction factor are not very organized in the FE reference manual, so make sure you remember the equations. I also go over Reynold’s number and how to determine if we have turbulent or laminar flow. Hazen Williams equation is straightforward but just remember that the equation is under Hydrology/Hydraulics and not Fluid Mechanics.
