Happy May Day everyone! Before you ask, I’ve known about this Allertor being a special port ratio for quite some time. Nate uncovered some photos online of this Allertor without its projector housing on about 6 months ago, which showed 4 chopper vanes on the front; which meant it was either 10/12 or 8/12. After a brief conversation with the city’s management team, we’ve come to the conclusion that this Allertor was most likely purchased used from either Mason City or Fridley. Around 2014, some sort of problem arose with the projector (I'm not sure what), which needed to be taken off and replaced. The replacement projector they got happened to be from a newer Allertor, which is why there is a new projector on this older pre-1972 model. Up until about an hour before the test, I was not familiar with Waseca County’s testing policy and was not sure if it would end up actually sounding. But shortly after noon, I got a response from Emergency Management stating that rain and overcast have no effect on siren testing; so I stayed put. Though the county tested 11 minutes late, it more than made up for it with a 3 minute attack cycle! I definitely was not expecting attack, as all other communities in Waseca County use alert for testing. This test was definitely one for the books, and I may return here in the future to get a better recording, as this one turned out kind of lackluster. But anyway, hope you enjoy the video!

Waseca County tests their siren system on the first Wednesday of every month at 1PM.
