This brings us to the concept of functional communication— the ability to express wants, needs, and engage in social interactions. Why is functional communication so crucial for toddler language development?

Over the years, I've noticed parents emphasizing teaching letters, shapes, and colors, thinking it contributes to language development. My advice? Reconsider. These concepts might not effectively empower toddlers in expressing themselves or engaging socially. Instead, let's focus on teaching words that truly empower them in these aspects.
