My Toula Tour - Toulany family tree - Keeping our roots May 2019

Welcome to my Toula tour, discussing my family tree, along with keeping our roots. Speaking stories on behalf of my grandfather. Discussing what i know about our Toulany family tree. Please viewers comment below on further stories. We (Toulany's) originally come from a village called Toula in the Zgharta district. In May 2018, i did a tour on my village of Minaria. With filming the village of Toula in 2019, the history dates back to 120 years roughly around. You younger generation Toulany's, please educate yourselves. If you haven't had the chance to visit Toula, do yourself a favour and go. It is paradise and you won't regret it.

There were 3 brothers who fled Toula from the Turkish invasion of Lebanon. Who ruled Lebanon for 400 plus years. From some sort of death or murder they say...One brother fled to Syria, who supposedly did the most killings. The second fled to Haref Ardeh in the Zgharta district. The third brother fled to my own loving village of Minaria Akkar. His name was Tannous and he had three children. Bashara, Hanna and Abboud.. These three people are the ones who started the Toulany family in Minaria.

Joseph Saba say's we have no relations to the Toulany's in Zgharta. Who spell their name with a i at the end. (Toulani) How did they end up with their last name? I would like to know. There is an older Toulani living in Zgharta i was suppose to chat with. However when i visited him he was sleeping, i ended up going back to their corner store but didn't have luck again. I look forward to chatting with this man.

Our original last name was Saba or Yasbak from what we been told. From what i know, our cousin Joseph Saba who lives in the village of Raachine.. Say's we come originally come from the Saba family. Jido Jamil Toulany, Allah yerhamo i believe use to say were from the Yazbek family. Which there name is in the village of Aslout next to Toula. I was unable to reach a family member from Aslout. However this is still on my bucket list.

I'm very proud to say Toulany's are the largest Lebanese family in Halifax, Nova Scotia since immigrating in 1958. Marhoum Bashir Toulany, the first to arrive in Canada married Sadie Kharma from Karabache.

Let us keep our Lebanese roots, speak and understand Arabic, read and write Arabic. Learn our culture, food, music etc and etc. Lebanese born outside, when there's a will, there's a way.

Toula is the home of Mar Assia Church that was built in 1897
