Under the increasingly real perception that the current monopoly of money, in the form of bank debt, has reached such a point of rigidity and centralization that it has become unsustainable, we develop how the introduction of complementary currencies to the conventional monetary system allows to put highlight the wide variety of forms that money can take and help, encourage and contribute precisely to its evolution. Not surprisingly, the emergence of experiences of social and solidarity economy and some steps in the redefinition by some administrations of certain public policies has opened the door to new possibilities and, this time, using in the debate real success stories such as result of years of experimentation in consolidated projects.
And, among many issues that the crisis has forced us to rethink we find aspects related to the creation and use of money. The complementary currencies propose a specific and unique approach to the issue, since its use and implementation also represent a qualitative advance in the collection of quality data if public bodies resort, among many other possibilities, to analyze the impact of the data, differentiate between the “captured” and the “deserved”, know their impact and value “the social”.
Not surprisingly, the data speak, tell us stories, make up stories.
