VOLTAGE MEDIA ALLIANCE: Through our Voltage Media Alliance Work Skills Program, youth have the opportunity to learn new skills and gain leadership experience and ownership on Joe’s Place programs as they learn prop & costume making, acting, photography, videography, lighting and sound. This year we built a stilt-monster as the video shows. We also filmed our Voltage Teaser Video in the Tunnels of Moose Jaw and we filmed more Scene Change Videos than ever before. The live on-stage drama is filmed from multiple angles, then turned into a movie. The Media Alliance youth are honoured at a Movie Premiere. They arrive by limo, walk the red carpet and take pictures with family & friends. They enjoy an amazing meal, watch the movie and are applauded as their names cross the screen in the movie end-credits. Then youth sign autographs on our cast & crew photo. WHAT IS VOLTAGE: Joe’s Place Youth Centre presents Voltage, Saskatchewan’s largest chem-free New Year’s Eve party for teens, where 500+ youth and volunteers from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and the surrounding area ring in the new year without the influence of drugs or alcohol. Months of careful planning culminate in 10 hours of live entertainment, music, costumes, contests, competitions, prizes, food and more. The incredible energy and excitement of the Countdown to New Year's session inspires conversations for weeks afterwards. This memorable event is made possible through countless hours given by volunteers and generous donations made by our community!

WHAT IS JOE’S PLACE: Joe's Place is a youth centre that is open free of charge to all Moose Jaw and area teens. The centre offers drop-in from 7-11pm on Friday & Saturday evenings. Joe's Place features pool tables, air hockey, video games, a concession, a sound system and light show, many unique decorations and a 30-foot-tall climbing wall themed like an abandoned gold mine. We also have an art studio and a performance stage for youth to demonstrate their gifts and talents, and a commercial kitchen that allows us to feed hungry youth. An average of 100 youth attend Joe's Place every weekend night, but a crowd of 250 is not unheard of for special events! Joe's Place is also open Tuesdays for mentorship where we gather together to share a hot meal and discuss various life topics. On Wednesdays we work side by side with youth to teach them job skills and life skills. We also plan day trips and other special events and we sponsor youth to camps and youth retreats. Voltage is Saskatchewan’s largest, chem-free, New Year’s party for teens and we are honoured to offer this event to the youth of our city.
