Queen Elizabeth II at the State Opening of Parliament – ITN Special (1976)

On 24 November 1976, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh attended the annual State Opening of Parliament to set out the agenda of James Callaghan's Labour government. ITN and Thames Television co-produced that year's event, presenting the traditional ceremony in all its splendour.

On 7 November 2023, King Charles III attended the first State Opening of Parliament of his reign. Charles attended last year's as the Prince of Wales along with Prince William, then-Duke of Cambridge, the pair acting as Counsellors of State for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
