2020 was a strange year. A worldwide pandemic saw many major sporting events put on hold, with very little certainty on when they’d be rescheduled. For the MTA NSW Rally Championship, the five event calendar was thrown into doubt when the opening event, the Netier National Capital Rally, was pushed back to November.

The AMH Automotive Group Rally of the Bay was next up, and with a July 4th date, COVID restrictions eased just in time to allow the event to proceed. A rescheduled Midstate Freight Caves Classic Rally would follow next and then two cancellations (Monaro Stages and North Coast Rally) would see the finale take place at the Netier National Capital Rally.
