So, let's jump straight into our tips to help you get to the rim. First, surprisingly, the best way to improve your driving is to shoot the basketball.

✅ WHY SHOOTING WELL HELPS YOU DRIVE?

The better a shooter you are, the more defenders will have to run at you, which will give you more opportunities to drive. The better you are at driving, the more chances it's going to give you to shoot.

Defenders will have to pick their poison if you can do both. Then, they either have to run at you to prevent you from shooting the basketball...

Or they have to slowly run at you because they know if you don't shoot, you can easily get past them and get to the rim.

✅ HOW SHOULD YOU DRIVE TO THE BASKET?

If you're driving to the basket, you want to attack straight, which means you stay inside this elbow. You will see that the greatest driving guards in the NBA do a good job of owning the paint.

One of my favorite moves is a simple hesitation and go. That's because I like to keep it simple. I always want to have the ball protected while I'm trying to get to my spots.

✅ WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU GET INTO THE LANE?

There are many things you can do when you get into the lane. You can drive to the rim and finish at the basket. You can shoot a floater or runner. You can stop and pop with a pull-up jumper. Or you even pass the ball to a teammate when the defense collapses.
