Journey to the village of Apoera, on the western border of Suriname. It sits on the banks of the Corentyne River, with Guyana on the other side. The road trip there took more than 16 hours each way, and in addition to the challenges of traversing a dirt road through the Amazon basin, the expedition was fraught with hidden threats and dangers. Certainly, a trip never to forget, visiting places that most Surinamese may have only heard about, but never ventured to.
