This was my first time seeing Ripe live and also my first time down at the Space Ballroom – the layout of the room wasn't ideal for video with a post in the middle of the room blocking part of the stage when viewed head-on, so I decided to set up my camera house left, with my mic array placed separately in the center rear.

Unfortunately the show was seemingly oversold far beyond the 300 person stated capacity, and it was really tough to move around in the space. I figured for music audio trumps video for attention, so I hit record on the camera and then left it in the crowd so I could keep an eye on the audio recording for the night. The video looks fine, but I think I made the right choice because in my opinion the audio sounds pretty good.

I'm not sure why most bands are against taping because it only helps to build interest in live shows – if you can deliver, I guess. Huge shoutout to Ripe for being cool with taping!

A kind gentleman who is far more familiar with the music than I am gave me the setlist for the evening that he wrote down as the show happened. Shoutout to that guy! I'll get around to adding timestamps eventually but I didn't want to delay posting this.
