The Only BRC-20 Guide You Will Need

Описание к видео The Only BRC-20 Guide You Will Need

FAQ BELOW! Note: My goal with this video is to hopefully onboard new people onto Ordinals via BRC-20, while also expressing the risks that are associated with BRC-20s. Please experiment with BRC-20s at your own risk.

To add to my thoughts on BRC-20, I believe it has positive benefits. For one, it brings over users who are interested in participating in the Ordinals space. I think the most beneficial aspect to BRC-20s though is that it will encourage builders to develop tools on Bitcoin, which is always dope.

FAQ❓:
What are Ordinals/Inscriptions?
Ordinals refer to Ordinal Theory. When referring to Bitcoin, it is a "system" that tracks the smallest form of a Bitcoin, which is called a SAT (Satoshi). These individual SATs can have arbitrary data (images/other files) inscribed onto them (I believe more specifically it's in the witness data of a transaction and then a specific satoshi is associated with the inscription, do not quote me on this though 😅) creating inscriptions. Please refer to the Ordinals handbook (linked below) for a more detailed explanation.

Do I need a Taproot address for Inscriptions?
This question is specifically for Unisat wallet. I don't believe it's 100% necessary to have a Taproot address if you want to hold/send inscriptions, but I have not looked too much into it. For now, I am sticking with a Taproot address for anything inscription-related. The benefit of using a Native Segwit address though would mean that your address would have much more compatibility when it comes to Legacy and Taproot addresses, so you can receive bitcoin from either of those address types. A Taproot address is not able to send bitcoin to Legacy addresses and vice-versa.

How can I split my transfer inscription?
If you accidentally created a transfer inscription that has too many tokens credited to it and you want to try to split them up, you would need to list your transfer inscription on the Unisat marketplace (I would of course recommend you to list it at a high price so that it's not accidentally purchased) and then you would delist the transfer inscription. This should cancel out the transfer inscription and would then let you create them again, letting you to split them up properly.

How can I transfer my BRC-20 from Ord Wallet to Unisat?
If you happened to be an early BRC-20 user, you may have found yourself holding BRC-20 inside of your Ord Wallet or any other kind of wallet that doesn't have BRC-20 support. If you needed to transfer your BRC-20 to Unisat or a different kind of wallet, I would recommend using Unisat's inscribe services to create a transfer inscription. MAKE SURE TO SET THE RECEIVING ADDRESS AS THE SAME ADDRESS THAT HOLDS THE MINTED BRC-20!

I would also make sure to transfer the max amount you can from the original mint inscription so that you can send it to your preferred wallet all at once.

Do I need to use Unisat's Marketplace/Inscribing Service?
There are plenty of marketplaces and inscribing services that are currently out. When it comes to marketplaces, the only one I recommend is Unisat's marketplace. This is because other marketplaces themselves carry risks to using them (whether it's BRC-20 risk or wallet security safety).

In regard to inscribing services, the only one I recommend is Unisat's inscribing service. Using other inscribing services may put your BRC-20 at risk as the balance may stay with the inscribing service instead of the BRC-20 balance being credited to your address.

Note: ordi was used for example purposes for this video. It has already reached its max supply.
