This thought-provoking video critically examines Joseph Prince’s teaching on tithing based on Ezekiel 44. Prince claims that Ezekiel 44 describes our time, therefore Christians are obligated to tithe today. However, even a cursory reading of Ezekiel 44 reveals glaring problems in this interpretation.

Ezekiel 44 not only discusses firstfruits offerings but also includes animal sacrifices, sin offerings, guilt offerings, and grain offerings. It also describes the Jewish feasts and Sabbaths. If we are to follow Prince's logic, shouldn't we also be offering these additional sacrifices as well as following the Jewish feasts and sabbaths?

Moreover, the word "tithe" isn't even found in Ezekiel 44. Joseph Prince equates firstfruits with tithes, but this is a basic error. Firstfruits and tithes were very different offerings. Even if Ezekiel 44 did requires us to give firstfruits or tithes, the firsfruit and tithe ordinances of the Old Covenant which it would be referring to are vastly different than the modern practice that Prince promotes.

This is a great example of a teaching that would never stand if we actually read scripture together, discussed it, and included questions in our teachings, instead of just listening to monologues.
