Over the past couple of years, communities in the Cayo District have been prone to flood during heavy rains from weather systems. Several factors have increased the occurrences of flooding, and climate change is expected to increase the number of storms normally seen. Cayo North Area Representative Michel Chebat says the government is aware of the growing concerns and is working to mitigate flooding in future instances.
