Vsevolozhsk is a town located 24 km east of St. Petersburg, along the famous Ryabovskoe highway, also known as The Road of Life. This road was a vital lifeline for the besieged city of Leningrad during World War II, connecting it with the rest of the Soviet Union. Today, Vsevolozhsk is home to around 78,000 people, who enjoy its lively atmosphere and rich heritage.

The town has a long and fascinating history, dating back to the 18th century, when it was owned by the noble Vsevolozhsky family. They established Russia's first narrow-gauge railway in 1892, to transport peat for heating St. Petersburg. Along the railway, stations such as Berngardovka and Vsevolozhskaya were built, creating new settlements and industries.

One of these settlements, Vsevolozhskoye, near Vsevolozhskaya station, was the first place in Russia to have street gas lamps, making it a pioneer of urban lighting. Nowadays, Vsevolozhsk is a cozy and modern neighbor to St. Petersburg, offering a glimpse of the suburban lifestyle in Russia. Join us as we explore the history and charm of this town, where the past and present meet.
