This Two Queen System promises above average honey yields. Well, now it's well stocked and ready to produce. My Super-Split method is to source frames of capped brood from several mature colonies so we don't negatively impact their development.
Queens, when we find a colony that has queen cells and demonstrates that they are preparing to swarm anyway, we remove their mature queen and use that in the Super-Split. No delays, just strong colonies that grow rapidly.
FEEDING, why did I put sugar syrup and pollen patties on this new 2-Queen system? Because the workers that come with these frames are mostly nurse bees that have not been outside, and are not prepared to forage.
By adding hive alive pollen patties and light sugar syrup we can help them retain resources without having to rush their normal job stages within the hive.
It's very common after a super split, to see almost no activity at the entrance landing board. They are still maturing and caring for the brood. Within two weeks of installation, the colony will be as strong as others in the apiary and will be ready for supering.
