Mysore Vasudevacharya was a great disciple of Patnam Subrahmanya Iyer. He was Asthana Vidwan in the court of Mysore Maharaja. In the later years of his life, he was invited by the famous Rukminidevi Arundale to head Kalakshetra in Madras.
He has about 200 compositions to his credit, which include pada varnams, tana varnams, krutis, javalis, etc. in Telugu and Sanskrit.

The poet asks Goddess Chamundeswari, the merciful consort of Sankara, to protect him. He exalts her as the protector of those who seek refuge, the most powerful, destroyer of demon Mahisha and the one residing on the Himalaya mountains.

The Devi's powers are indescribable by words. Her virtues so are excellent, that Lord Brahma and other Devatas bow to you. He calls her Maha Vishnu's sister and that is the sanchari chosen in this choreography.

He describes her as beautiful like full moon, eyes like lotus petals and teeth are like jasmine buds. She bestows voice to dumb, thus sages worship you. She is auspicious and pleasant. She is delighted with the blissful "Taraka Mantra" which bestows salvation.

The performance by Mandira R & Kavya S is choreographed by Akshara Bharadwaj and the composition by Mysore Vasudevacharya is in Bilahari Raga & Adi Tala.
