This is a project I shelved a while back and recently decided to pickup now that Winter has come. Had some disappointments and successes that I wanted to share in hopes you can learn from both my win and fail.

Using 2K Max spray can I gave a thick coat. Five passes, and it came out with a luster that had me grinning. My intent on the thick coat was to allow for me to paint correct and buff out orange peel.

However, replicating what works on scale models did not pan out so well on my machine. Thought I would share some before and after I gave it a mirror smooth surface and ceramic coating.

I personally think it looked better with just the 2k Max coat, and smoothing out the orange peel backfired by removing the glitter effect and replacing it with a smoother mirror shine.

I'm hoping I can salvage the effect by keeping the canopy in the bold glitter and replicating the mirror smooth process on the opposite side panel so the sides and tail all have the same smooth look and the front of the craft has the high glimmer pop that the orange peel provides. Hoping it gives a good contrast that will salvage what I have done somewhat.

I'll update with another video when I finish the project and give my final thoughts. The next time I do a clear coat project, I will apply the 2K with an airbrush and not a rattle can. I want the fine misting and reduced orange peel that will come of it with it.
