According to Hindu mythology, Rukmini Devi, an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, was the devoted consort of Lord Krishna. Though she lived far away from Dwarka, her heart belonged only to Krishna. When she was about to be married against her will, Krishna rescued her and brought her to Dwarka, where their divine union took place.

It is believed that after marriage, Rukmini accompanied Krishna to Dwarka, but due to a divine incident involving sage Durvasa, Rukmini stayed outside the main city. As a result, her temple is located a few kilometers away from the Dwarkadhish Temple, symbolizing devotion, sacrifice, and divine grace.
