Farmer Ram Swaroop Dhakad was allegedly beaten with rods and run over by a Thar jeep, after refusing to sell his land. According to the police, BJP leader Mahendra Nagar, three women from his family, and 14 others have been booked under charges of murder and assault. Dhakad’s daughters say they were attacked, assaulted, and even shot at while trying to save their father.

The family claims Nagar had been threatening small farmers in the area to sell their land, and Dhakad’s refusal led to his killing. Police reports state that the injured farmer was kept under guard at gunpoint for nearly an hour before being taken to the hospital, where he later died during treatment.

As public anger mounts, the victim’s family is demanding justice, protection, and a fair probe, while local opposition parties have called for strict action against the accused.
