Dundee, traditional song & old images, The Beefcan Close

Описание к видео Dundee, traditional song & old images, The Beefcan Close

This old song from Dundee , 'The Beefcan Close' is here brilliantly sung by a completely authentic Dundee voice, that of Annie Watkins on this occasion discretely accompanied by the Foundry Bar Band. I would say this has to be the definitive rendering of the song by any singer, although I also have one sung by Charlie Allan which pushes for a close second. Although this song is obviously intended be sung by a male, the fact that Annie is singing it, does not really detract from the enjoyment , in fact maybe adds to the sense of fun. I tried subtitles initially as I fear the words may be totally incomprehensible to anybody unless born & bred in Scotland, but I'm sure the rest of you will get by on the easily recognisable chorus. The images were scavenged from various sources, but none of the originals belong to me. ( I hope you will all benefit from the experience & excellent advice of the author of 'The Beefcan close' and remember if you go out on the spree to always first 'tie yer money tae the tail o' yer sark' )
