What is beauty? The concept is enduring and controversial. In traditional European arts, beauty is related to shapes and the way several shapes relate to each other, but also to ideas that gather. For instance, French impressionist painters chose the idea of natural light to unite their compositions representing people and places.
Ancient Greek art defined perfect, idealized proportions of the body in the "Canon" sculptures, while Heraclite contradicted this conception. To him, fire was beautiful and the source of all life, while seemingly without shape.
Nowadays, model scouts seem to be looking for skinny, emaciated, unhealthy looking bodies.

I try and show that perfect proportions are visible everywhere in nature, in our faces and in our bodies. I use Penrose tilings that for many reasons, seem to describe perfectly our natural world in 2D.
