Hanuman Chalisa

The Hanuman Chalisa is a revered Hindu devotional hymn that is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. He is known for his unwavering devotion to Lord Rama. Composed by the 16th-century poet Tulsidas in the Awadhi language, this 40-verse (chalisa) hymn praises Lord Hanuman's strength, courage, wisdom, and devotion. The verses narrate his remarkable deeds, including his role in the epic Ramayana, where he played a crucial part in the rescue of Sita from the demon king Ravana. Reciting the Hanuman Chalisa is believed to invoke Hanuman's protection, remove obstacles, and bring strength and success in endeavors. It holds a special place in Hindu worship and is often recited in homes and temples. This hymn embodies the power of faith and devotion across generations. Personally, the Hanuman Chalisa had helped me navigate several instances when life threw a curve ball at me.

To ensure that I had chanted all the verses and not missed any lines, I chose to use an uplifting scale based on the Lydian scale, which is loosely the same as Raga Yaman or Kalyani. Additionally, I had an intuition to chant each of the 4 lines for each of the spiritual centers, known as the chakras. This means that there would be seven notes for each ascension to a chakra, and the eighth note would be an offering to Lord Hanuman above the Sahasrara chakra. However, this is just my personal intuition, and if there are pundits who disagree, I ask for their forgiveness.
