(11 May 2014) BRIDAL COUTURE WEEK CONTINUES WITH THIRTEEN DESIGNERS ON DAY TWO IN PAKISTAN
The 8th edition of Pakistan's much anticipated fashion show "Bridal Couture Week" continued for the second day on Saturday (10MAY2014) in Karachi.
13 designers showcased their collections of bridal-outfits including attire deisgned for all wedding functions.
"Jashn e Janaa" or "Celebration of Love" was presented by young designer Zaheer Abbas. Zaheer says that he tried to continue his style of "simplicity and elegance" while celebrating love.
"The title of the collection was 'Jashn e Janaa,' it was actually the celebration of love, so we wanted to celebrate love in a way � because every occasion of a wedding is about celebration, it's a very festive collection and we used a lot of colors we mixed it in a way that it looks like a collection in a whole," said Zaheer.
Inspired by the fusion of Asian and European culture, Pakistan's renowned fashion designer Faraz Manan exhibit his collection "Istanbul."
Manan conjured up fabulous creations out of chikan kari, thread work and Swarovski to creative what he described as a "glamorous collection."
"Inspiration was the fusion basically fusion of east and the west. The workmanship that we have in the east and the silhouette of west. That's why it is called Istanbul, because Istanbul is the city that I am inspired by and Istanbul has culture of Asia and Europe also, so basically that was the inspiration and the materials I've used are nets, chiffons and chikan kari, very summary very crystalline, very pastille, so that's what the collection is all about.," described Faraz Manan
The 2nd evening also featured a runway show titled "Power House of Fashion" in which country's top seven designers showcased their collections, including Ali Zeeshan, Khadija Shah, Kamair Rokhni, Nickie Nina, Sana Safinaz, Shamaeel Ansari and Umar Sayeed.
Veteran model Zainab Qayum was inspired by the collection and also by the response of the public, Zainab - who is also known as ZQ - in fashion circles, said bridal shows are for every lady.
"All different types of bridal dresses, which are so semi formal, what you need for dowry and varri, you get to see it all under one platform, the bridal couture week is different because it gives you opportunity to wear whatever color you need in bridal collection, if not red - then anyone else," she said.
Sunday will be the grand finale of the three-day fashion extravaganza and it will feature some of Pakistan's top fashion designers, including Deepak Parwani and Hassan Shahryar Yasin.
