Byakuya beginner guide

IF YOU ARE PLAYING UNIST PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
Byakuya didn't change much for unist, the main things are his 3C is now a reliable anti-air, he can feint his unblockables (623x) by holding the button which makes them a real mix-up, and he now has 2 reversals with 236C and 41236D (up from 0!) This makes him a lot less risky to play since he now has okay defensive options, which was his main weakness. Also with the new game comes new combo routes. Just ignore all the combos at the end and use UNISTs challenge mode instead if you need some help finding combos.

If you are new to uni byakuya is an easy character to pick up, he's got good damage, decent mix-up options, good neutral, and fun movement. His execution is relatively low, not the easiest in the game but pretty darn easy (If you're struggling with some of the stuff in this video check the pastebin, it has some execution tips/alt routes). Byakuya has issues on defense in general, his anti-airs aren't very good, he has no reversal, and his backdash is pretty whatever. To make up for it Byakuya has strong offense and some really dominating oki.

This guide is intended for people new to the character of byakuya but familiar with the basic system mechanics of under night. So I skipped over some universal options. Of note for byakuya though: VO is invun to everything (except for gord's anti-air grabs and only gord's anti-air grabs). And IWEXS is universally hit invun (not throw invun). For most characters IW is also invun, byakuya is saddly not most characters.
