Backpackers come and go through the shop now and then. This one’s serial number dates from around 2010 but is probably slightly before that.

I’ve never found a terribly good use for them aside from how I’ve strung it here — in Nashville tuning, with the EADG up a whole octave. This gives it a chimey sound with a “tight” chordal voice that makes it really useful as a 2nd-line/backing strummer on recordings or in a jam. The problem with “standard” tuning on one of these is that the body’s just far too small to actually sound decent, so a higher-pitched tuning helps a lot.
