QLI Physical Therapist Brad Dexter discusses the features and advantages of the Whill Model Ci power chair.

The Whill Ci is a sleek, versatile, and portable chair for those looking for options beyond the traditional power or manual wheelchair. We found it to be lightweight (about 70 pounds) and very simple to assemble and disassemble for maximum portability. The joystick is intuitive and easy to work even for those without fine motor control, though we found that the buttons for powering the chair on and off were a bit difficult to activate for an individual with limited upper body strength or dexterity. The design of the folding arms and footrest made transferring in and out of the Ci quite easy. While we wouldn’t recommend the Ci in extremely rough terrain (nor would the manufacturer), it performed well on both concrete and grass, granting access to many more locations than a manual chair would allow. All in all, we are very impressed with the Ci and believe it will be a fantastic benefit to individuals with severely limited mobility or spinal cord injuries who are looking to maximize access to the community.
