The tricky part is figuring out the code for your personal remote. It will be a six digit code. To get that code, you have to push the button on your remote. But the display on the HP five only has three digits and it’s a six digit code. The trick is, when you push the button and see the three digits, you have to push the code button on the panel. That will show you the FIRST 3 digits of your code. Release that button and you’ll see the NEXT three digits. 

To add a code,

1) push and hold Program button for 3 seconds.
2) Type 30#
3) Type your 6-digit code and press #
4) if you have additional codes to add, you can type each code and hit # again.
5) when you are done entering codes, hit # , one last time.
6) Type 1# to add a delay
7) Push and hold Program button to exit programming mode.

Now when you push the button on your remote, you’ll see an LED light up on the AP-5 display that is marked “Access Granted”. If the door is closed, it will open. If it is already open, nothing will happen.
