Judith Bosnak studies Dutch and Indonesian sources in the Leiden Special Collections and beyond and contrasts them to learn more about Dutch colonial rule in the Dutch East Indies.
One source she used, is a collection of letters by the Javanese nobleman Candranagara, written to Leiden professor P.J. Veth.
These letters are far from the only source handed down about Candranagara and his contemporaries in the Leiden Special Collections. She tells us about some of the treasures she found.
