6 Steps to Setting Up a Hair Salon or Barbershop Business at Home

If you're already doing hair from home or thinking of doing hair from home but haven't set up your business yet...these are the steps I recommend to make sure your business is structured properly.

Most people skip some of these steps or do them out of order and find themselves correcting it later. Save yourself the headache, time and money by following these steps:

1. Get a virtual mailing address (UPS store has them but there are others)
2. Register for LLC (if your state has a way for you to do this online, you can save some money by doing it yourself)
3. Register a Trade Name or D.B.A (Doing Business As)
4. Register for an E.I.N (Employer Identification Number) https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-...
5. Open a business bank account
6. Sign up for a cloud-based accounting software (I recommend QuickBooks, but you can also use Wave Accounting, Freshbooks, etc.)
