At COP29 in Baku in November 2024, the world's leaders came together to agree on a bold new climate finance goal. They agreed to a goal to reach at least $300 billion annually by 2035-though much more is needed than that.

But where will that money come from, and why does it matter what the different sources are? How do we get from $300 billion to $1.3 trillion? In this video WRI President and CEO Ani Dasgupta makes sense of the financial flows with Melanie Robinson, WRI’s Global Climate, Economics and Finance Program Director, who’s based in Nairobi, Kenya.
