You may have heard of "Valhugan’duvaru," the legendary place of Dhonhiyala, who sacrificed herself for the love of her life. In this story, Dhonhiyala didn't find her true love, nor did she perish. Instead, she devoted herself to aiding vulnerable women on the island, offering them refuge and care.

Within Valhugan’duvaru, every woman is either a widow, a survivor of domestic abuse, or someone without anyone to turn to. Dhonhiyala has been a mother, a sister, and a friend to these women, empowering them to be resilient and engaged.

This musical presentation depicts a typical day in Valhugan’duvaru, showcasing how Dhonhiyala and her courageous companions protect and support a victim of domestic abuse.

The cycle of domestic violence can be broken by taking a stand against it, starting with ensuring the safety of women within their own homes.
