Welcome Welcome to Southern Hill Farms, a family-owned u pick farm located in Clermont, FL about an hour south of The Villages and 20 minutes northwest of Disney World. It’s a great alternative to the hustle and bustle of all the tourist spots in Orlando.

For Mother’s Day this year, mom wanted to visit the farm again so off we went. Expect to drive on dirt road since the property is a few miles off major roads.

Once you park on the grass field, the first thing you’ll see is the Greeting Barn where you’ll get a quick run down of things to know about the farm. You can also rent wagons here for $8.

These days, you’ll appreciate the paved walkway leading to different areas of the farm.

But first… we have to do picture taking!

Adjacent to the Greeting Barn is a map of the area. It’s a good idea to familiarize yourself, after all, there’s a 120 acres of farmland here. I recommend taking a photo of the map OR simply scan the QR code to access the map electronically.

Now let’s get started with business. On the right, is where 40 acres of blueberry fields are located.

Pick up your buckets under this tent gather your blueberries and peaches.

Mom took 2 buckets so we are ready to go.

It was my brother Daniel’s first time at this farm so he was checking out all the areas.

Southern Hill grows five different varieties of blueberries on forty acres, all with distinct tastes and textures. Ranging from large and tart to sweet and juicy. Here’s map from their website showing where each blueberry variety is planted.

Note that blueberry harvest season is from March to May and not all varieties are available all season long. Check their website and social media sites @southernhillfarms for the latest info. The cost is $5 per lb. Each bucket holds approximately 6 pounds.

Here’s a topview of the blueberry fields. We conquered Field #5 and even saw friends.

Now that blueberry picking is done, mom and I head to the peach area which is 4.5 acres. Here, you can see that the peach trees are adjacent to the covered children’s play area.

Peach season is April thru May. In fact, the weekend we visited on May 12th was the last of their U-Pick peaches so we were thankful for that.

Southernill grows 3 varieties of peaches on 4.5 acres.

According to their website, the peach trees were planted in 2016 and 2018 spring was their first peach U-Pick season.

Since we came at the end of the season, mom and I were having to reach higher on the trees to get the peaches since many of the lower ones have already been picked.

And here’s our little haul. Now it’s time to take a small break under the Market Barn just behind the fire pits.

Now it’s time for flower-picking which is my favorite! You need a Flower Field Pass to enter. It cost $6 for 10 and older, each Sunflower is $2 and $1 for each Zinnia.

I recommend getting the $12 mason jar or vase and fill it up with as many zinnias as you can fit!

Enjoy a brilliant rainbow of zinnia blooms. Vibrant colors like deep red, orange, carmine rose, coral, lime, wine, purple, bright pink, white, salmon rose, scarlet, and golden yellow, are planted all over the field.

Don’t forget to grab scissors for your fresh cut flowers!

Finally, it’s time to pick some sunflowers. Mom picked the field with the tallest and largest sunflowers! These are over 6 feet tall!

After picking, don’t miss the Food Truck Barn where they have a bakery, eatery, a beer shed, café, kettle corn and other food offerings. The service is fast and their stuff is to die for.

The frozen blueberry lemonade was perfect after a hot day of picking, also available iced and the blueberry cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream was a sweet ending to a fruitful day!

Stop by the Southern Hill Market below the observation deck to find gifts, adorable clothes, hand poured candles, trinkets, jams and other merch to take home with you.
