This one is a special one! Several years ago I pitched this thematic idea as a new skinline and it got approved! Nunu & Willump and Anivia were our debut champions and I feel like they game out great! Papercraft Nunu & Willump holds a soft spot in my heart b/c of its relationship to my childhood, growing up doing origami and other sorts of papercrafts.

The recall draws the story of Nunu's knack for bringing to life whatever his imagination helps him create. Willump, his best friend, was actually put together by Nunu, using materials like cardboard, paper, paint, and some gold foil metal. Imbued with magic, Willump accompanies Nunu on his adventures and together they craft creatures, tools, and memories together as they travel. Specifically in the recall, they fold a paper crane together and bring it to life!

The recall takes a lot of inspiration from My Neighbor Totoro, where Totoro helps the kids grow a large tree from a small sprout. The personality and vibe that Totoro gives off as they band together to make something grow hopefully is captured in the fun, excited nature of this animation. :D
