Handheld sprayers are essential tools for both the professional pesticide applicator and the DIY homeowner. These sprayers allow for the precise surface applications of pesticides and herbicides in small to medium-sized areas, such as around the perimeter of a house or the area of a lawn.

Some sprayers may require a crescent wrench to tighten specific connections, while others come fully assembled and ready to use. For cleaning and maintenance, you may also want to consider pliers.

Step 1: Remove your sprayer’s lid. Many handheld sprayers have lids you can simply unscrew to remove, but the Solutions Electric Sprayer includes a unique spring-locked lid that must be undone first.
Add your pesticide and water according to the product’s labeled instructions into your sprayer’s tank. With just 1 gallon of finished solution, many applications can cover up to 1,000 square feet of treatment area.
Replace the lid to your sprayer and ensure it closes tightly. For the Solutions Electric Sprayer, rotate the lid until it locks in place with a snap. Once your sprayer is secured tightly, shake to evenly distribute the product.

Step 2: Pump your sprayer a number of times to build enough pressure to produce a low to medium pressure spray. The amount of pumping will vary depending on your sprayer. If you’re using an electric sprayer, then you will not need to pump the sprayer as most electric sprayers will use suction to apply product, rather than pressure. Simply turn the sprayer on to activate the pump.

Step 3: You can start spraying when your solution is evenly mixed and your tank is pressurized or ready to apply. Be sure to use the proper spray tip setting for your pest control application. All Solutions Handheld Sprayers feature adjustable nozzles that can accommodate Pinstream, Cone or Fan, and Fine Mist settings.

Handheld sprayers can be used for indoor or outdoor areas where your selected pesticide is labeled for application. Generally, handheld sprayers are ideal for applications with low output volumes that cover less than 4,000 square feet of treatment area.
