Post-Match Commentary :
12 teams participated in this World Grand Prix and top 6 after 3 weeks preliminary round will enter the final round in Japan. Preliminary round with 4 teams in each pool and round robin to decide the ranking. This was Week 2 game comprising China, Brazil, Poland, Germany.
For Germany, #16 Sylvester was retired and her replacement was #8 Dumler (23yo, 1.81m). #15 Angelina Grün (26yo, 1.85m) became the key player of the team. #17 Birgit Thumm (25yo, 1.84m) still unable to share the responsibility of Grun. #15 did play in Montreux game but she wasn't in the squad for World Grand Prix. I assumed the same reason as Poland to prepare the European Championship happened a month later. Without #15, Germany was weaker compared to Montreux. #11 Christiane Fürst (20yo, 1.92m) was played in the starting lineup since this tournament. For China, the team remained 7 Olympic gold medal players in the team, #2 Feng Kun (27yo, 1.83m), #3 Yang Hao (25yo, 1.83m), #4 Liu Yanan (25yo, 1.86m), #7 Zhou Suhong (26yo, 1.82m) #16 Zhang Na (25yo, 1.8m) were still the core of the team. #1 Wang Yimei (17yo, 1.9m) & #15 Ma Yunwen (19yo, 1.89m) was in the starting lineup. Withotu Grun, the team dropped one level. Attack, defence, blocking was unwatchable for how they played. China used 70% of their real power can still win against Germany.
