A Guide to the Natural Yosemite Firefall 2024 – Horsetail Fall

Hundreds of photographers gather in Yosemite Valley each year for the natural "firefall" phenomenon at Horsetail Fall. Everyone has their fingers crossed for the perfect conditions. When conditions are right, the sunlight streams through the thin sliver of a waterfall, turning it a glowing, molten orange for a few minutes as the sun sets. Shutters click as people gasp and cheer and hug their friends and neighbors.

Please note that Yosemite National Park will require Temporary Vehicle Reservations to access the park for the weekends of February 10-11, 17-19 and 24-25. The first group of reservations will be available on Recreation.gov beginning on December 1st at 8 AM PST.
