Debate: Political fight over UP quota 2

With all parties trying to woo Muslim voters, Congress has pulled out all stops to attract them in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh by promising reservation to backward minorities commensurate with their population. The assurance means that the party was ready to give 9 per cent reservation to backward minorities, with Muslims constituting 18 per cent of the 20 crore population of the politically crucial state.
