Welcome back to Space Weather News, your daily source for all things space weather-related. In this video, we will explore the details of the G1 (Minor) storm watch issued by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for the 15-16 March UTC days due to multiple coronal mass ejections (CMEs) that departed the Sun between 10-13 March. Solar storms are a natural phenomenon caused by CMEs and solar flares that can disrupt satellite communication, power grids, and cause beautiful auroras in the night sky.

CMEs are massive clouds of plasma and magnetic fields released from the Sun's corona, and their effects on Earth depend on their size, speed, and direction. The NOAA has stated that the forecast confidence in geomagnetic disturbances associated with the CME arrivals is fair, but certainty in disturbance levels is less. While the impact of the G1 storm watch is expected to be minimal, enhancements in the solar wind field cannot be ruled out entirely.

The NOAA DSCOVR spacecraft that monitors the solar wind field about a million miles away will be the first to detect any real-time solar wind changes due to CME passages, providing real-time solar wind data that can help predict the arrival time and intensity of CMEs.
