FIRE PUMP HOUSE

Описание к видео FIRE PUMP HOUSE

A fire pump is a part of a fire sprinkler, internal and external Hydrant system's water supply and can be powered by electric, diesel pump. The pump intake is connected to the independent fire sump
A fire pump works through the use of an engine, which can be powered by electricity, diesel, or sometimes by steam turbines. The pump is activated when one or more of the sprinklers in the system is triggered, causing the pressure in the system to drop below a specific level
Fire pump house consist of
Storage facilities like water reservoir & Diesel storage tank
Pumps- Jockey Pump, Electric Driven, Diesel Engine, Stand by pump, Booster pump
Pipe lines – hydrant line & Sprinkler line
Valves – Solenoid valve, NRV, Y-strainer, Ball Valve,Gate Valve, Butterfly valve
Safety instruments- Level indicators & pressure gauges
Power controls - Control panels, VFD panels, Battery
And other accessories – Hose Box, Hose reel, nozzles, Branches etc
Let me brief one by one
Fire water sumps / reservoir / Diesel tank
A dedicated fire water reservoir of total capacity ranges from 1500- 5000 cum to be provided & for any additional requirement there is a separate sump (1000 KL Cap.) to be provided (water storage based on the size & facilities of factory )
A dedicated diesel storage tank for fuel source for diesel driven pump
Pumps
The fire pump house consists of different capacity pumps for both Hydrant and sprinkler lines separately.
Jockey Pump
Electrical driven
Diesel engine
• The pumps start operating after a fall in the pressure level in the fire extinguishing system. The first pump to be triggered is the jockey pump. If this pump cannot restore the pressure level, the main pump starts. When there is more than one main pump, the pumps start in cascade sequence, with the starting pressure switches set at different pressure levels. The pressure switches of the main pumps are used only for starting, as the pumps must be stopped manually

• As Per Pressure Setting On Site Condition --- The Pressure Drops, for At Pressure, 8.0 Kg/Cm2 Jockey Pump Will Start Automatically, If The Pressure Become Normal( i. e 11.0 Kg/Cm2 ) The Jockey Pump Will Stop Automatically.

• If The Requirement Of Water Still Remains And The Pressure Goes Bellow Set Level ( I. e. Bellow 6.5 kg/Cm2 The Main Electrical Driven Pump Starts Automatically . And to Be Stopped Manually. When The Main Pump running the jockey pump stop automatically.

• If The Pressure Goes Bellow Set Level (i.e. Bellow 5.5Kg/Cm2 ) The Diesel Engine Operated Pump Start Automatically. But, To Be Stopped Manually.

• A separate booster pumps for providing sufficient water pressure for long distance areas
Pipe lines
Total fire hydrant & Fire sprinkler pipelines are to be laid across the plant covering all the internal and external areas
Recirculation for recirculate water in the sumps
And dedicated diesel pipe line for diesel driven pump
Valves
There were different types of valves arranged to maintain pipe line systems
Solenoid valve/Ball valve/Gate valve/Butterfly valves are flow ON/OFF valves
Non return valve to control Back flow
Y-Strainer to remove unwanted solids
Safety instruments
Level indicator for checking the sumps and tank levels
Pressure gauge for checking pipe line pressures
Power controls
Control panels: The panel contains the devices required for operation and control of the pump
VFD Panels: this panel for jockey pump to control motor speed
Battery: for diesel driven pump
Accessories
The entire external and internal hydrants have been equipped with a hose box containing two hoses of 15mts long and one number Standard Branch. Other accessories like fire hose reels (30 M), different type of nozzles & Branches to use in case of fire fighting
This is about fire pump house components and this pump house maintained by dedicated team pump house to be checked daily using a check list.
