The storage of hydrocarbon or chemical liquids in above-ground storage tanks is an important element in the energy supply chain. A major concern for the integrity of a storage tank is the condition of the tank bottom. Whereby corrosion is one of the most common threats.

One example of an advanced tool for use during an out-of-service inspection is ROSEN’s tank bottom inspection tool (TBIT). ROSEN’s TBIT uses a combination of Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) technology to detect and size corrosion defects and Eddy Current (EC) technology to determine the precise location of the defects – and, notably, whether they are on top or the bottom of the steel plates.
