TWO PLAYER drills are my favorite, because:

1. One player gets to work on REPETITION
2. One player gets to work on balls that are more REALISTIC
3. It is FUN and CHALLENGING

In this drill (cooperative), the receiver from the machine will get to work both on forehand and backhand returns, but must hit the ball crosscourt in order for the net player to work on POACHING skills.

You may have to set the machine at a higher delay here.

The receiver should work on trying to keep the volleyer from hitting a lot of high offensive volleys, thus trying to keep the ball low if possible.

The POACHER should work on:

1. The timing of when to poach (usually tight after the ball hits the service box, but depends on the speed of the serve and of you).

2. Moving in at an angle to cut the shot off easier, take less steps and hit higher balls making the volley more offensive.

The poacher should also try hitting at the opposing net person more ofter and in the direction they are moving.
