The game, a top-down multiplayer shooter for PC, is based on the Netflix animated series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, which itself was derived from the Far Cry universe.

Interestingly, Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. incorporates Web Three technology, requiring players to purchase a non-fungible token, NFT, to access the game. This aligns with Ubisoft's earlier interest in blockchain and cryptocurrency, which has largely diminished across the industry.

A notable aspect of the release is the inclusion of Rayman, Ubisoft's classic platforming character. The game features characters from the Captain Laserhawk show as well as Rayman as a playable option. This release comes as a surprise, as Ubisoft has largely avoided promoting the title.

The game has reportedly been described as tedious by some. This release is a hidden nod to Ubisoft's past interest in Web Three, coming after most other big developers have dropped the idea entirely. The wait for a new, standalone Rayman game continues.
