Bandua - Senhora dos remedios - Soundscape Portugal

Merging traditional Portuguese folklore with modern electronics, the duo Bandua (Tempura & Edgar Valente) delivers a mesmerizing performance surrounded by the hills of Serra da Gardunha in Fundão, Beira Baixa, Portugal.

The dam of Castelo Novo provides a special backdrop for this performance, since it is a location which holds water, and memory. This piece is also a prayer for these very same waters to keep their endless flow, aiding life itself, while also helping to maintain the memory of the ancestors of these beautiful rugged lands.

"Senhora dos Remédios,” which translates to "Our Lady of Remedies,” is an old devotional piece dedicated to an ancient pagan deity from this specific region, who brings her medicine to heal the hearts of the earth and all living beings.
